  • Immersive & Effortless

Acquire intermediate phrases without struggle or frustration

Many intermediate learning resources are too complex.

Using them can easily slow down your progress.

The Intermediate Stage can already feel endless - so why make it even longer?

You have better things to do with your valuable learning time than to spend hours trying to find something at your level.

It can feel frustrating, especially since Gàidhlig has become a meaningful part of your life.

Ever wondered if you'll be able to talk about more than the weather, being gu math, and your dog?

Of Course You Will!

This course will get many common advanced phrases stuck in your mind so that you can use them more naturally yourself

Meet Your Teacher: Jason Bond

Many Gaelic learners train with me because they want to communicate, not just conjugate. I help their confidence and self-expression soar, making Gàidhlig a living experience for them and not simply an intellectual exercise.

This course was the perfect next step for me. The vocabulary learned in the Foundation Course made the work in the Intermediate course much easier. The stories were shared in an interesting way making each lesson entertaining and fun. What amazed me the most was that after a few lessons it occured to me that very little English was being used and yet I was understanding the material. I truly feel that I have learned a great deal during this course.

There is nothing quite like the joy of logging in to dive into another story and finding that I'm picking up more and more Gaelic each time! Some of these stories are brand new to me and I get sucked into the drama of it all while learning and some are fun to re-visit now in Gaelic. I really love the new layout as Jason's drawings help me follow along while cementing in terms and concepts - all while still getting visual cues from him in the corner. Jason has a unique way of making it feel very individualized with the comment feature and such encouraging and validating notes from him throughout. I've also really enjoyed that I can come back to certain chapters in the course to dig in a little more to something I'm reading in his book, Deirdre agus an Rìgh. To me, this course is an absolute must for learners especially folks wanting to learn more about myths and history.

I’m about halfway through this course and thoroughly enjoying it. It’s great to be learning a language with a strong oral tradition via its folk tales. Slowly but surely, I find that I associate Gaelic words directly with the thing or action, without having to mentally translate into English first.

Common Questions

  • If I purchase a payment plan, when can I start the course?

Right away! Once your first payment goes through, you'll receive full, unlimited access to all the lessons.

  • Will I ever lose access to the materials?

No. As long as this website is up, this course will be waiting for you.

  • Is this a good step to do after Duolingo?

I wouldn't recommend it. You'll need a solid foundation of Gaelic to get the most out of this course. I recommend completing my Gaelic Foundations course first.

  • Are there are prerequisites?

You'll need a solid foundation of Gaelic to be able to get into the flow of this course. I recommend reading Ròna agus MacCodruim to get a sense of the complexity of the language used here. If you can read Ròna agus MacCodruim without much difficulty, this course will be a good fit!
