Have you ever struggled with expressing yourself in Gaelic?

Many Gaelic learners do, despite years of study.

This is usually because they focused on learning grammar in English instead of communicating in Gaelic.

Musically speaking, they've studied the parts of a guitar but that doesn't mean that they can play songs.

You deserve to play songs.

This course is all about communication

Gaelic will get stuck in your mind so that you can use it more smoothly and naturally

Course Features

  • 24+ hours of immersive conversational HD video lessons to tune your ear to the song of Gaelic - making your pronunciation far more accurate

  • Reading passages with recordings - to help your mind link sounds and written forms, accelerating your mental processing speed

  • Each unit reinforces the previous ones - helping the language get stuck in your mind

  • Optional questions and surveys to see your progress unfold

  • A deeper look into traditional vs modern expressions - as well as notes on Nova Scotian Gaelic

  • Immersion in high frequency vocabulary, structures, and all verb tenses and noun cases

  • Ask me questions directly and receive feedback promptly

  • Finish the course by reading part of a Gaelic novel - all by yourself!

Jason is a spectacular teacher! This course got me speaking and thinking in Gaelic almost immediately. I retained more from his first video than I did from a month of Duolingo. It’s as if he hacked my brain! Pure magic!

After spending four months with some other resources to learn Gaelic, I was finding myself feeling stuck. I got caught up in trying to understand every single 'why' and 'how' of the language so much so that I was not learning very much new material. My love of learning can send me into hyper-drive sometimes but it can also make me feel very frustrated and ready to quit (which had happened several times before when trying to learn Gaelic) Two days into these video lessons and I am amazed (and dancing with joy!) at how much I really do know, can remember and can repeat back. I've even written a 'mini-biography' about myself from these lessons without having to scour the books for hours to write. I feel so much more relaxed, validated and empowered to keep learning! I HIGHLY recommend Scottish Gaelic Foundation with Jason.

I started this course after several attempts at learning Gaelic on my own with a couple of books but I never felt I managed to get stuff in my head. After only doing the first half of this course I already find myself thinking to myself using phrases from the course. The videos are very nice and the repetition really helps drilling the language into your long term memory. I will definitely do the advanced course once I'm done with the foundations.

Your time as a learner is very valuable.

Will you focus on using English or using Gaelic?

It Really Is a Pain-free Course

"It really is a pain free course. I was quickly using the present, past and future tense without a single worry or headache. I am laughing and smiling all the way to fluency with Jason's jokes and stories. I can feel he has a genuine passion for this beautiful language and for teaching. It is safe to say that Jason is the best language teacher I have ever had, and I know 5 languages and even more teachers, so I am not saying this lightly!"

Sofia S, Denmark

No More Struggling!

Kortney B, Indiana, USA

"The immersive way Jason teaches is so much better than teaching myself from a book with cds. I was feeling stuck & losing hope that I could really learn Gaelic, but now I feel like I am learning Gaelic easily."

I Cannot Recommend His Course Enough

Rich B, Oklahoma, USA

"I have learned so much in such a short period of time. I have always been intimidated about learning a new language, but Jason has made the experience not only fun but rewarding as well. I cannot recommend his course enough. If you have ever thought about learning Scottish Gaelic, then Jason is the teacher you have been looking for."

"I am Surprised at How Much I Have Learned"

Steve B., Actress, Scotland

"I have absolutely loved every minute of this course and I am surprised at how much I have learned and I am very keen to continue my studies. I feel such a sense of achievement at the end of this course and this is in no small measure down to your commitment, patience and encouragement. Thank you so much."

"Definitely the best training I've come across."

Matthew G, Scotland

Common Questions

  • If I purchase a payment plan, when can I start the course?

Right away! Once your first payment goes through, you'll get full, unlimited access.

  • Will I ever lose access to the materials?

Never. As long as this website is up, the course will be there for you.

  • I've been doing/finished Duolingo. Is this a good next step?

Yes it is. Duolingo is great for starting out and the immersive videos on this course will not only reinforce what you know already but build on it immensely. Please note that my lessons are free from underwear theft.

  • How is this course different from your Youtube channel?

Off the top of my head:
    1) This course has many more videos.
    ------------------------
    2) The video lessons in this course build upon one another to both reinforce and expand your Gaelic.
    ------------------------
    3) This course has readings and audio files for each section to accelerate your processing speed.
    ------------------------
    4) You can ask me a question directly - and I check them daily.

  • How is this online course different from other ways to learn Gaelic?

The core of the Foundations Course is video lessons, which are followed up with questions and a reading to reinforce everything in the video, give you extra reading practice, connect the sounds you heard with the written forms, as well as get you thinking about the video lesson in different ways - in Gaelic. In my course, you practice using higher order thinking skills in Gaelic, which is so much more than just writing "Mary has stolen James' underwear again."
